What is car wrap film?
Car wrap film is a high-performance new environmental protection film (TPU), which is widely used in the car beauty and maintenance industry, and is a common name for paint protection film. The complete structure of the car wrap film is composed of glue, TPU base film, functional coating, and release film.
The coating process of car wrap film:
The multi-layer structure of the car wrap film combines the functional coating, TPU base film, and pressure-sensitive adhesive through a coating process, which can be divided into two steps: adhesive coating and functional layer coating.
First step: Place the base film on the No. 1 unwinding mechanism of the coating equipment, and apply the pressure-sensitive adhesive through the slit extrusion coating unit, commonly known as back gluing. After the coating is completed, it is dried and cured in an oven. After curing, it is laminated with the TPU base film from the No. 2 unwinding mechanism to finish the first step.
Second step: Place the TPU composite film completed in the first step back on the No. 1 unwinding mechanism, and apply the functional coating using the micro-gravure reverse kiss coating unit, commonly known as the repair layer. After the coating is done, it is dried and cured in the oven again. After curing, it is laminated with a protective film and wound up, completing the entire coating process flow of the car wrap film.
However, the completion of the two steps does not mean the end of the coating process. It is necessary to place the semi-finished car wrap after the second winding into the aging room after 3-5 hours, and let it stand in an environment of 55 degrees Celsius for 12-24 hours. This allows the glue and raw materials to fully bond, making their performance reach the best stable state, which is the real completion of the entire coating process.
